Slight Change in Plans

Undergoing major surgery is stressful on everyone- the patient, the family and friends. Initially, my dad made an appointment for his Whipple surgery on June 16th. Initially, the thought was he wants it soon but to wait after baby girl Altenburg is born. Now after contemplating it more, he wants it out now. When you go in for major surgery, especially the Whipple where you will lose around 20 lbs in 2 weeks, you need to be in the best shape possible. For this, my dad needs to have as much weight on him as possible and be as physically strong as possible. Recently, my dad had a difficult time keeping weight on, let alone gaining weight. With this being said, my dad has decided to have his surgery May 5th. My family and I agree that the sooner the better. We do not want to risk him losing more weight by surgery time.

My dad will not be traveling to Louisiana for this surgery alone. My mom, along with his two brothers, Frankie and Ron and their wives will be traveling to Louisiana to support him through this surgery. We hope that after his recovery time (6-12 weeks <--- NO rush dad!!) he will be back to his normal activities of riding his bike, playing golf and spending time with the grandkids.

Thank you for your support throughout this adventure. We are hoping that this surgery will be the game changer. The main pancreatic tumor will be gone, it won't return and my dad will be painfree and good as new!

If you see him between now and surgery time make sure you give him a cookie or mac n cheese to eat. He's gotta put on as much weight as possible! :D
